Review:

I was impressed by the quality of the components, the packaging and their
presentation (e.g. decent screw drivers were supplied to help with
assembly). It took about 1 hour to put the whole thing together. The
instructions were very clear and well written (much easier than anything
from IKEA and no parts were missing!). The focuser and the sturdy metal tube
are both very impressive. The telescope has a beautiful white gloss finish.

I took the scope outside, initially to collimate. To my surprise,
collimation was spot on, even after shipping the instrument all the way from
China! No adjustments necessary. My daughter and I managed to see the moon,
Jupiter (quite a bit of detail) and a couple of star clusters: omega
Centauri (which was to low in the sky to be resolved) and the Jewel Box in
Crux. I upgraded from the standard (i.e. supplied) eyepieces and find the
image quality to be surprisingly good. Using my Pentax XP 3.8 mm eyepiece (x
315), much detail can be seen on Jupiter. A 40 mm Plossl gives superb wide
field views for deep sky observing.

The finder is well positioned and easy to use and collimate (although it
does sometimes lose collimation when I shift the telescope). Finding objects
is easy and even my 8 year old can find Jupiter using the finder. The
movement is also smooth, even at 315 x magnification.

The only down side is the bulk of the telescope, which means it is a little
tricky to move. Unlike some dobs, the tube does not simply lift off the
base, since the two are attached to each other. Just hope I don't bash into
a wall one day!

I have several other scopes and I bought this one for my daughter. I am
pleased with the telescope and think it is just right for a beginning
astronomer!
