This is a Super Macro Lens designed for higher magnification than the equally useful DCR-250. It offers +25diopter, more than 3x that of the DCR-250! With a 3-group/4-element optical design, it is the culmination of more than 40 years of Japanese technology. The MSN-202 seems to be a unique lens with no equal market competitor! This fascinating lens is highly compatible with various point-and-shoot compact digital cameras with low optical zoom of 6x or lesser. However it also works well for cameras with very high optical zoom such as the 12x Canon S3 or Panasonic FZ50. though there might be serious vignetting. It is also compatible with certain medium-to-telephoto DSLR lenses and even videocams which have filter threads of 62mm or lesser. Simply "Snap On" the MSN-202 Super Macro Lens onto the required (not included) RT5245C7 Tube Adapter by using the included UAC3500 universal mount and your Olympus digital camera will be able to take macro images with minimum distortion at the maximum telephoto position (compatible with Olympus C-740UZ, C-745UZ, C-750UZ, C-755UZ, C-760UZ, C-765UZ, and C-770UZ cameras). Due to the extreme magnification, a very shallow depth of field is produced. Thus it may present a great challenge to the less patient or beginner in macrophotography, but it's worth the trouble when you get a great shot! However the extent of vignetting (or dark corners) might be slightly excessive on certain digicams/videocams due to the lens diameter size of 37mm. But for high magnification imaging, vignetting is normally not an issue as the centre of image is the most important part. The MSN-202 includes a snap-on universal adapter mount suitable for DSLR lenses or digital cameras with 52-67mm filter sizes. It can also be used on videocams by just purchasing the necessary adapter rings at S$25 each. For example, the Sony HC3 will require a RA3730 adapter ring to fit to the MSN-202.
