If you own the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 digital camera, this is the best combo package you can ever use for all your macro shots! Another Raynox lens, the DCR-250, will not perform as good as MSN-202 with the LX3 in terms of magnification. IF you use DCR-250, your LX3 will only give you almost the same magnification as in its macro mode, but with a much longer focusing distance of about 12cm compared to 1cm in macro mode. Please note the Leica D-Lux Series Digital Cameras would experience some distortion at the sides if used with this macro package, though this is not a serious issue for macrophotography unless you need to shoot straight lines. The MSN-202 Super Macro Lens from Japan (see rightmost picture below) offers an astounding diopter strength of +25 diopter, more than 3x that of the DCR-250! With a 3-group/4-element optical design, it is the culmination of more than 40 years of Japanese lens technology. The MSN-202 seems to be a unique lens with no equal market competitor! With the LENSMATE USA Adapter, now you can attach any standard 46mm filter to your Panasonic LX3 and Leica D-Lux 4, and still use the original lens cap. We thought this lens cap was too pretty to be replaced with a generic lens cap so each adapter comes with a pair of custom lens cap clips (see picture in the middle above this paragraph). The lens cap clips go on with a snap and are easy to remove when you want, and retain the full function of the original cap. After attaching the Lensmate USA adapter to your LX3 and attaching the adapter ring to it, install the MSN-202 to its front, using the clipping method of the supplied universal adapter. Ensure the camera is set to its maximum optical zoom so as to get rid of any dark tunnel views otherwise known as vignetting. Do NOT use the macro mode of the camera. Simply use the standard shooting modes or the manual mode, which is popular for macrophotography. The focusing distance is around 3-5cm. Half-press the shutter button while simultaneously shifting your camera slowly in a back and forth manner to get the sharpest focus for great quality images! Please note you can still use the pop-up flash as there should not be any shadows seen in the shots. Due to the extreme magnification of the MSN-202 Super Macro Lens, a shallow depth of field might result. Thus it may present some challenge to the less patient user or beginner in macrophotography, but it is easy to overcome with much practice and is definitely worth the trouble when you get a great shot!
