Dear Visitor,

Thank you for your interest in our online shop!

If you're new to this website, please take note of the following:
Online shopping comes with certain terms and conditions which you should be fully aware of. Please refer to our Privacy Notice and Conditions of Use before you start to purchase anything from McGill. Of course we will try to make your online shopping experience with McGill enjoyable, convenient and safe!

If you're new to stargazing, the following links will give you a good start in learning the basics:
Getting your first telescope - Courtesy of our supplier Scopetronix, USA. Universe Today - Our partner of up-to-date astronomy news and resources

Please note that the above information are more meant for stargazers in North America and Europe. Some of the contents might not be relevant in the context of Singapore and Asia in general. However Asia (other than Japan) is developing its own market on a fast pace and prices of telescopes are dropping very fast. You may want to note that the many quality products marketed by McGill are truly affordable now for the common man on the street who wants to lift his head to admire the night sky. Of course we also serve nature watchers as well.

Contact us to get detailed price lists of Vixen, William Optics, Sky-Watcher and others as we have not listed ALL products on this website. If your item is not too popular in Singapore, McGill will still be glad to order one or 2 pieces for you to add to our regular shipments from the various suppliers.

For the local market in Singapore, from our experience we can tell you that majority of customers look for portable and versatile scopes. These include our best sellers like the 5" Maksutov-Cassegrains from Sky-Watcher, which can be used for bird watching as well, provided an erect prism (for terrestrial viewing) is used. Or you can also consider the Megrez 80ED from William Optics, which is smaller yet at 80mm aperture and comes with a handy water-resistant foam bag. For schools, normally high-tech telescopes are requested, such as those equipped with computerised mounts. But personally we don't think it's a good use of school funds to let students operate such expensive stuff if the students don't know how to maintain these excellent scopes properly. We've heard of tragic stories of students dismantling S$10,000 apochromatic refractors just to study the glasses or do cleaning. So to teachers out there, you might want to consider affordable telescopes which are more useful to students to enjoy stargazing. You can also purchase MORE with your limited funds this way.

McGill has a global network of suppliers with the best telescopes, binoculars and related accessories in the optics industry. Whether you're a 8-year-old or 88-year-old, feel free to call us for assistance. No obligation to buy at all. We'll be glad to serve you with our honest and neutral advice. Our range of telescopes and other products are known for their quality at very affordable prices, something unheard of in the past. A customer once said, "The sky is not getting any darker, and you're not getting any younger." The stars and planets were above you on the night of your first day on Earth, "smiling and greeting" at you. It's time you made friends with them!
